Design firm fits open kitchen for Japanese grill

Space Design Studios has revealed its part in the launch of Teriyaki Express, a new Japanese grill concept based at Westfield Shopping Centre.

London-based Space combined catering solutions with interior design to create a series of frontline cooking stations for the venue after being appointed to carry out the full concept design, planning, branding and installation of counters and equipment.

The lay-out features attractive counter fronts and an inviting illuminated menu plinth to make the venue visually appealing.

“The biggest challenge was the fact that all the cooking, preparation and refrigerated storage areas were on show to the consumer,” explained Space’s director Steve Curtis.

“Storage, refrigeration and working materials were all integrated in the design as a strategic part of the overall design in order to provide the best experience to Japanese food lovers,” he added.

Space Design Studios was founded back in 2001 and specialises in full architectural and interior designer projects for restaurant and hospitality sector customers.
