George Nunn, the ex-MD of London-based distributor, Dentons Catering Equipment, passed away peacefully on New Year’s Eve at the age of 82.
He started at Dentons as an apprentice sheet metal worker at the age of 16 manufacturing trollies, hot cupboards, prep tables and other commercial kitchen furniture.
George worked his way up to become a director and eventually took over the business in the mid 1970s, which by then was a fully-fledged catering equipment distributor.
He was joined in the business by his three children, Mike, Julie and Pete, and together they grew the company further, with Dentons joining CEDA and Cedabond.
George continued to play an active role in the company he loved so much until a few years ago, in total putting in over 60 years of service.
Mike reported that George was thrilled at the Dentons winning the Catering Insight Distributor of the Year: South of England award last December, which he saw as a final accolade for all his hard work over the years.
