Bunzl Lockhart stole the limelight at yesterday’s Light Equipment and Table Forum as it returned home with two pieces of silverware.
The company landed the Distributor Cup for the fourth successive year and the fifth time in the last six years. The trophy was collected by regional sales director Graham Knott.
“The Distributor Cup has been awarded for about 10 years to the distributor who in the opinion of the supplier companies is judged to have proved most worthy of supporting light equipment and tableware and this year I am delighted to give the award to Bunzl Lockhart,” said Steven Goodliffe, managing director of Contacto and chair of CESA’s LET group.
Meanwhile, the Sales Professional of the Year award went to Bunzl Lockhart’s national account manager Diane Kennett. She became the sixth Lockhart employee to land the award, following wins for Susan Young, Deano Kennett, John Hayward, Domenico Cassano and Nicola Kreft in previous years.
“Diane has managed the Compass UK and Ireland account for the last four years and during this time she has taken the account from strength to strength and increased the turnover by a very large amount,” said Goodliffe.
The other award given out was for ‘Best Featured Product’, which saw dealers vote for the piece of kit that most impressed them during their meetings with 14 suppliers.
The accolade was won by Grunwerg, which unveiled a range of aluminium cookware and a stainless steel vacuum kettle.
Yesterday’s Light Equipment Form saw the event more to a new venue and improved format at Whittlebury Hall Hotel in Northamptonshire.
CESA said the event was the largest it had put on yet, with suppliers getting 20-minute spots with sales staff from a number of leading dealers.
While there was no representation from Nisbets and 3663 this year, Brakes Catering brought 14 of its staff and Bunzl Lockhart brought 28 members of its sales team.
Other dealers there included Alliance, Gratte Brothers, Global, Kitchequip, Roland Allen, Whitco and Hamilton & Pollock.
