The assets of catering equipment dealer Smashing Supplies have been bought by competitor firm, Insanity Supply.
High Wycombe-based Smashing Supplies entered insolvency on 24 July, with a notice on the London Gazette website stating it was to voluntarily be wound up, and KRE Corporate Recovery in Reading appointed as liquidator.
However, now Watford-based competitor Insanity Supply has taken ownership of all stocks, client information and intellectual property rights of the dealership.
Smashing Supplies was founded by Deborah Pawelczyk and her husband Jan Pawelczyk in 2002, however, they are now no longer involved in the business.
The distributor’s new management team is Insanity Supply’s family owners, Almanzo and Roanna Doouss.
Almanzo told Catering Insight: “Insanity Supply is a family business with the original business (Harrow Business Supplies) being started in 1973 in Pinner, north London, by my grandfather, and it has maintained a strong customer-centric ethos ever since.”
Confirming that Smashing Supplies will continue as a trading name and will now be based at Insanity Supply’s Watford premises, Almanzo revealed the reasons for his family’s decision to purchase the dealer’s assets: “We have taken over the business to take it forward into the future.
“I have always thrived on challenge, and figured there couldn’t be much greater challenge than to try and make a go of a business in the sector hardest hit by Covid.”
He added: “We remain focused on delivering quality service to both local customers and also to the national accounts that Smashing Supplies held.
“We are in the process of contacting all customers and suppliers, and look forward to making this a smashing success.”
