PKS (Professional Kitchen Services) has hired Dean Johnson as its new sales director.
The former Newco sales manager has been tasked with a remit to help develop the sales side of Birmingham-based dealer, PKS. His role will involve looking after all new equipment sales, generating new business revenues within the catering sector, and promoting the business as a major supplier of catering equipment to the industry.
Johnson said: “My decision to change was not an easy one; I had really enjoyed my time at Newco, but this role will allow me to shape the way PKS is perceived by the industry, and allow PKS to offer a complete range of brands and products from all the major manufacturers from the UK and around the world.”
PKS MD Kevin Davis told Catering Insight that Johnson would principally be promoting the firm to the local market. “Our situation is the reverse of most businesses’: we are well known in the national marketplace by the big blue chips – that is our customer base – but we need to develop more in the local marketplace and that’s what we’re hoping Dean can bring for us. We can give him that national company support to do this."
Davis continued: “Dean has a strong background and is very well known in the marketplace. I have known him for over 20 years so when he became available, we thought we’d be a good fit for each other.
“PKS is a very strong service-oriented business and over the years we have developed the sales side of the business, but it’s been sales through service. So we want to move more over to the proactive sales side of things, and that is Dean’s challenge.”
