A trio of catering equipment distributors have spent the past three days rubbing shoulders with prospective customers from the garden centre sector.
Catering Design Group, Horti Catering Equipment (a division of Catering Projects) and Vision Commercial Kitchens have all been exhibiting at the Glee show at the Birmingham NEC. Coffee machine supplier GMS Espresso has also been showcasing its equipment.
The exhibition features an expanded food and catering zone this year, allowing distributors to promote their services and issue advice to garden centres on optimising food sales.
Vision has been holding live cooking demonstrations at its stand, with Rational development chef Ray Donovan showing how combi ovens can be used to prepare a menu suitable for garden centres of all sizes.
The Lancashire-based distributor has also been running a competition to win an 1800w Panasonic microwave.
“With our help and expertise, many garden centres have found that they get more revenue from their catering offer than from their plants,” said Vision. “We are showing more and more of them a way to maximise this income and become a food and drink destination as well as a gardening one.”
As well as catering equipment and kitchen design, the food and catering zone at the show includes companies specialising in kitchenware, catering services and food and drink.
