CEDA members dug deep to raise more than £6,000 during its annual conference earlier this month, the organisation has revealed.
Distributors and manufacturers contributed £6,060 in total, with the funds going to Hospitality Action, which offers vital assistance to people who have worked in the UK hospitality industry.
CEDA also organised the donation of a Smeg refrigerator complete with a ‘St George’s’ flag design to the St George’s Hotel, home to England’s National Football Centre, where the event was held.
As a sign of its gratitude, the hotel donated a leisure break prize to the Hospitality Action fundraising pot in return.
This year’s CEDA Conference attracted 229 delegates, with ‘Winning Edge’ the theme of the business day.
CEDA chairman, Jack Sharkey, said: “I’m proud to say the CEDA Conference 2014 demonstrated the association’s own ‘winning edges’ in a number of ways from the quality of speakers including DC Thompson chairman Ellis Watson and England rugby union legend Will Greenwood MBE to the practical business savvy presentations in the interactive seminar programme.”
He added: “Our venue was excellent with St George’s Park steeped in the legends of England’s football teams from past to present, and really first-class facilities.”
