Dealer personnel rate pay rises as most important to morale

Salary survey happiness reasons crop

Job satisfaction can come in several forms, and Catering Insight asked 128 dealer personnel to rate reasons from 1 to 5, with 1 being what would increase their happiness most, going through to 5 as the least.

The clear winner was unsurprisingly a pay rise, with 47.06% of respondents rating it as 1 – making them much happier.

However, it looks like either distributor executives feel as if they are undervalued, or they want more for doing less, as new responsibilities within the same job was rated as something that would reduce the happiness of the 30.88% of respondents who rated it as number 5.

Promotion to a new role within the company prompted a varied response, with 75% of respondents rating this as 3, 4 or 5 in total – clearly job title upgrades are not really a priority for distributors’ employees.

Feeling part of a great team was recorded as fairly desirable, with 20.59% rating this as 1 and 26.47% rating it as 2, while training and development provoked the most mixed ratings, with all five grades between 13.24 and 23.53%.
