DC Products is hoping win more business from coffee chain behemoth Costa this summer after supplying ice machines to one of its franchisees.
The chain has just revamped its summer drinks menu in anticipation of the warmer weather and as it seeks to accommodate customers’ appetite for iced coffees and lemonades it will need ice in abundance.
Leicestershire-based Costa operator, 3D Coffee, has been using DC warewashers across several of its site, so when the company’s director Hoosein Dadabhoy required new ice machines he was advised by distributor Ideal Catering Solutions to plump for DC.
DC’S T140-40A pebble ice machines have now been installed by Ideal at two of 3D Coffee’s sites — in Corby and Wigston — and more are in the pipeline.
The new-style ice delivers an improved ice product into beverages and is proven to significantly reduce the time it takes to prepare drinks, according to DC Products. The company insists it is easy-to-administer due to its trapezoidal cubes, which reduces splash and allow for better measure management.
Evelyn Graves, who runs the Costa Corby branch, said: ‘’A lot of time has been saved — just 15-20 seconds in the crusher instead of 1.20 minutes. It’s easier to measure out correct quantities and easier to handle and it also provides a better consistency of smoothie after blitzing.”
