DC Products has unveiled a new self-contained granular ice maker, which it claims has a whole host of different applications within the foodservice sector.
As well as more traditional customers, such as those in the bar and club market, the DCG90-20A soft granular ice is ideal for the care industry, where it can be used as an alternative to ice cubes in cold drinks to ensure residents remain hydrated without the risk of choking.
The compact stainless steel cabinet of the unit is just (H) 685mm x (W) 496mm x (D) 660mm deep and houses a top quality catering grade moulded ABS plastic bin that can hold up to 20kg of soft ice.
The ice is formed in a cylindrical evaporator and granulated with an Archimedean screw that ejects a continuous stream into the insulated and hygienic storage container at a rate of up to 90kg of ice every 24 hours.
Produced at sub-zero temperatures, the 1.5mm-3mm flakes are the quickest cooling of all the ice types, according to Somerset-based DC, and are suitable for fresh fish displays, dairy and meat cutting.
