Danish catering equipment manufacturer Wodschow & Co is launching a new generation of mixers following consultation with its top catering and bakery customers.
The company, which is behind the BEAR Varimixer brand, says its latest product, labelled Kodiak, is a result of”unprecedented” in-depth research with focus groups using its equipment.
”We are delighted to have had so many great tips from our users," said Peter Frederiksen, the company’s sales director. ”With their input, we have been able to develop a more streamlined, more efficient and much more ergonomic mixer that also exceeds hygiene requirements.”
Wodschow & Co’s research revealed ergonomics and efficiency to be the most important aspects when dealing with kitchen equipment. As heavy lifting and time-consuming processes are routine in kitchen environments, the Brondby-based company’s engineers and designers took a totally different approach to the new Kodiak generation of mixers.
For a start, the mixing bowl sits high in the mixer during operation which combined with the increased height of the trolley means the overall working level is much improved. It is also tilted slightly upwards in order to make operation as easy as possible without the user having to bend their back.
When the bowl needs to be moved, the operator can use the lever to lower it gently onto a tall trolley to be transported around the kitchen, eliminating the need for any heavy lifting.
The see-through safety guard is fastened with magnets that also act as a safety switch. The guard protects from dust but allows visual inspection during operation for better results.
Wodschow & Co. has concentrated solely on manufacturing professional mixers since 1915. It exports to more than 70 countries, including the UK.
