Catering equipment start-up Cooksmill says it is well on its way to opening for business in September after filling almost all of the vacancies it announced at the start of July.
As revealed in the current issue of Catering Insight, the business is a subsidiary of Dadibhais, the Bradford-based importers and distributors of commercial catering equipment.
The owners of the company said today that the new venture “has been a long time in the planning”. They are keen to build on the success that Dadibhais has had in the market over the past 30 years.
Eight new starters have taken up posts Cooksmill’s catering wholesale warehouse in Salford inside the last few weeks, including a new e-commerce manager, web content administrator and duty manager.
At the moment, all the roles are heavily focused on procurement, stock checking and online administration so that it can kick off operations in the next few weeks.
Several positions have also been filled in the warehouse and shop floor areas.
At least two members of staff have joined with catering equipment experience from kitchenware firm Peter Maturi, which is currently in administration.
Cooksmill has taken a 20,000 square foot premises in Salford to handle both online and showroom sales.
Dadibhais said the launch of the ecommerce side of the business was already generating a “steady stream of orders” and with the new team members now on board it plans to officially open in September.
A Cooksmill spokesperson confirmed: “We’re now rapidly approaching a position where we’re finally ready to open the doors and welcome the region’s chefs, catering managers, bar, restaurant and hotel owners, as well as enthusiastic home chefs.”
