Crystaltech’s Derek Maher is putting down his toolbox for five days next month to complete a gruelling 600km cycle ride for charity.
The dishwasher service specialist’s managing director is bidding to conquer the trans-Alpine cycling challenge to raise money for Hospitality Action, the CEDA chairman’s charity.
He will set out from Munich on September 18 and is due to arrive in Venice on September 22. The ride will take him and fellow riders through the Brenner Pass in the Alps, where they will reach a height of 1,320m as they bid to cycle more than 100km a day.
As Maher has self-funded the ride, 100% of the donations he receives through his fundraising page will go to Hospitality Action. Donations can be made here.
Jack Sharkey, chairman of CEDA, said: “Derek’s determination to take on ever bigger challenges to raise money for the likes of Hospitality Action is remarkable and admirable. He is a great inspiration in showing what we can all achieve if we put our heart and soul into something.”
