Wholesaler Costco has implemented the latest food safety auditing and product quality testing software to help it manage its global supply chain more effectively.
The software is provided by Aspirago, a subsidiary of NSF International, and enables retailers and manufacturers to drive proactive supply chain quality measures.
Costco announced the transition to Aspirago to its suppliers last week.
“Ensuring food safety and quality across the global supply chain is more complex than ever,” said Christine Summers, director of food Safety and corporate quality assurance at Costco Wholesale. “Aspirago offers complete end-to-end functionality specifically designed for our needs as a global retailer to ensure our food safety expectations are met worldwide.”
Summers said that the technology would give it the ability to compare detailed data across multiple facilities and, over time, allow it to gain a stronger insight into supplier audit findings. It will also make it easier to compare suppliers.
Aspirago helps retailers, manufacturers and audit companies effectively manage product quality and food safety from suppliers worldwide by providing secure, collaborative web-based software that aggregates and analyses their third-party auditing and testing data.
