Several thousand pounds’ worth of catering equipment owned by legendary Cornish comedian Jethro are to be sold off at auction next month.
The kit belonged to the Comedy Club that Jethro set up back in 1989, but it closed two years ago and he has recently decided to sell it, along with its contents.
The auction will include the complete dispersal sale of all catering and bar equipment, as well as other non-kitchen related furniture and items.
The catering lot includes a Rational combi oven, Montague Grizzly 6 burner gas range, Millers 3 tier bread oven, Kuppersousco tall oven, Hobart washer; Caravell double fronted fridge and Zanussi salamander, as well as a Hobart mixer, Vestfrost chest freezer and Victor serving unit.
He is also selling off kitchen utensils and cutlery, a Burco hot water boiler and Avery scales.
Jethro, whose real name is Geoff Rowe, told a local newspaper that he was selling off the club because he has no time for new comics.
“’The club is an icon from a wonderful period of comedy but that age of comedy is over now, times have changed. The great acts I knew are gone and the new acts just aren’t for me.”
The auction will take place on Wednesday 6 August at the Okehampton venue.
