The entire contents of a commercial kitchen that was once the domain of celebrity chef Raymond Blanc are being sold off this week.
All of the kitchen equipment from the Hempel Hotel in London, as well furniture, fitments and furnishings, are being auctioned off following its recent closure.
The iconic five-star boutique hotel was bought for £33m earlier this year by British Land and along with Amazon Properties it plans to convert the site into 18 luxury apartments.
This Thursday’s auction will include the sale of commercial catering equipment, cookers, refrigerators and tabling plus a full range of tableware, cutlery and glasses.
Raymond Blanc once created the world’s “most expensive” salad at the Hempel. The £635 dish took six hours to make and included ingredients such as beluga caviar, grated truffle and potatoes decorated with gold leaf.
This hip London hotel was said to be famous for its A-list celebrity guests and was a favourite of the likes of David and Victoria Beckham, Michael Jackson and a plethora of actresses and musicians including Sienna Miller and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.
