KEG Consultants’ Kate Gould is training for her first triathlon.

KEG Catering Consultants’ MD and principle consultant, Kate Gould, will be taking part in her first ever triathlon to fundraise for the Brain Tumour Research charity and ALK Positive UK, which is dedicated to supporting patients with a rare form of lung cancer.

The Mid Sussex Triathlon is taking place on 13 June and comprises a 400metre swim, a 25k cycle and a 5k run.

Gould was inspired to take the challenge on to help her friend Jenny Weller, the founder of Rapid Results Personal Training, who at just 35 years old was diagnosed with stage four ALK Positive lung cancer in September last year, and has additional tumours in her brain, pelvis and lymph nodes.

Both charities Gould is fundraising for are investing heavily in new treatments that will hopefully prolong Weller’s life.

Gould detailed: “In a moment of true madness I decided to take part in my first ever triathlon, to try and raise the awareness of cancer and the importance of early diagnosis. As someone said to me ‘that’s no easy task when your own age is tickling a half century’!

“Sponsorship would mean the world to Jen and myself but it will really help drive me on when my body is screaming ‘no’.”

At the time of writing, she has already raised over £1,200 for Brain Tumour Research, 80% towards her target of £1,500, and £250 for ALK Positive UK, which is 16% of the £1,500 target.
