Foodservice consultancy Radford Chancellor Ltd has designed and specified a brand new catering set-up Stockport College, which is set to take shape over the next few weeks.
The College, a major provider of post-16 education and training in Stockport and a key regional and national centre for a range of specialist courses, has invested in new catering facilities in both the refectory and teaching side of the catering areas.
The task involved undertaking a survey of the existing equipment, assessing its condition, making recommendations as to a schedule of repairs and identifying any equipment to be replaced.
The consultancy designed and new catering facilities in relation to the refectory (in particular the refectory counter), refectory kitchen, the RWE kitchen, the training restaurant kitchen, the training restaurant and bar and the classroom demonstration kitchen.
The final detailed project design included full CAD ready for tender, equipment specification and budget costs for client. The consultancy managed the whole tender process for the client including the PQQ stage, ITT stage and evaluating the returned bids.
Distributor C&C has won the project and is currently undertaking the installation which must be completed by the start of the new academic year in September
The new £1.2m training facility is part of a larger project to modernise the college and ensure that students are training in the most realistic conditions.
From September, the new formal, fully licensed and student-run training restaurant, Elevations, will feature a contemporary design, incorporating the latest trends, materials and décor, and a range of seasonal menus for lunch and dinner.
Elevations will also be available for conferences, meetings and private functions, while regular evenings will feature a special guest chef themed session.
