Margaret Young, founder of MYA Consulting, has retired after a distinguished career spanning six decades in the catering industry.

She started MYA in 1992, and developed it to bring a new level of professionalism into catering management, planning and design, with clients in the aviation, education, and industry sectors.

Since 1996, her daughter Carla McKenzie has gone on to build the business into an international player with a profile in Britain and abroad, while Young has remained as a dynamic contributor to the growth of the business.

While developing MYA, she was also a competitive glider pilot, a motorcyclist and a yachtswoman. Recently her huge reserves of energy have been channelled into overcoming serious illness and continuing to work at MYA until long past normal retirement age.

The staff and management of MYA wished Young a long and happy retirement with her husband John, her garden and many enjoyable rides on her much-loved motorcycle and sidecar.

McKenzie commented: “MYA has doubled in size this year and we continue to grow. Margaret leaves MYA on a high and in good shape for the future.”
