Chiller Box has completed the fourth project for the Latin-themed restaurant/bar brand, Barrio, in Brixton, London.
The London-based distributor has previously outfitted the chain’s local venues in Angel, Soho and Shoreditch.
As part of designing and installing the kitchen and bar areas, Chiller Box chose Meiko warewashers, as it had with a previous outlet.
“We recommended Meiko for glasswashing when we first started working for Barrio,” said Marios Poumpouris, MD, Chiller Box.
“Barrio is a drinks-led operation so the quality of glassware is extremely important.
“Unfortunately, they had already chosen to go with another glasswashing supplier whose machines could not keep up with the pace of business and kept breaking down. They lasted less than 2 years!
“At Barrio’s third site they opted for an all-inclusive glasswashing rental package, again from another supplier, in order to try and control costs.
“Moving forward 3 years to their latest opening, Barrio had discovered that the quality of service from their rental supplier was not proving cost-efficient – and that the maintenance and support was also not effective either.
“We have now converted the ‘familia’ – and all four sites now feature Meiko FV40.2 G-GiO undercounter glasswashers, usually installed in pairs to cope with demand.
“The reverse osmosis delivers the sparkling glassware that Barrio requires and we have had no issues regarding reliability.
“Barrio also chose to take up the offer of Meiko’s 3 year ‘No Bills’ package for all of the glasswashers, ensuring their costs are controlled and that they have rapid response to breakdown support calls by Meiko’s trained and fully qualified engineers if and when they need it.”
