Foodservice equipment importer ChefTools has inked a deal to begin distributing US ceramic grill brand Kamado Joe in the UK.
Kamado Joe is a speciality charcoal oven from the USA that brings the taste of barbequed food indoors.
The appliance is a combination cooker grill, smoker and oven that uses high grade charcoal with the option to add hickory chips or other flavourings to impart a distinctive barbeque taste.
“Most chefs will be aware that the great taste of barbeque is coming indoors and the trend is set to add a further dimension to their cooking,” said ChefTools director, Luke Bagnall. “Kamado Joe is built to exceptionally high standards and available at an affordable price.”
Essex-based ChefTools will be distributing two different models, which have been identified as most suitable for use in restaurant kitchens: Classic Joe, with an 18-inch diameter cooking area and Big Joe, with a 24-inch cooking diameter.
The domed-shape units feature two air vents and a functional fire box, along with a temperature gauge. Most cooking takes place at between 300-400°F.
Visually, the Kamado Joe looks like a traditional barbeque, but it is made from high-fire heat resistant ceramics with powder coated cast iron vents, galvanised iron cart, teak finished bamboo handles and side shelves, and stainless steel grills and accessories.
