Usha Gupta worked in the catering equipment industry for over 30 years.

Usha Gupta, the company accountant, secretary and shareholder of Chef-Link UK, sadly passed away on Wednesday 11 March at St Richards Hospice, Worcester at the age of 80.

Well-known to many, after being in the industry for over 30 years, she was affectionately known as Mrs Gupta, being the mother of MD Akash Gupta.

Usha worked with her son for over 33 years, starting at distributor Direct Catering Supplies in Birmingham. She was the company accountant and secretary for the nationwide dealer, which supplied equipment from most of the major manufacturers and importers.

Though Direct Catering sadly closed down during the 2008 recession, the Guptas then decided to diversify and started Chef-Link UK, supplying components to major equipment manufacturers and the catering ventilation industry.

Akash detailed: “Our role was reversed. We started supplying our specialised component to companies that we used to buy from.

“Usha was still active doing our accounts until she was diagnosed as terminally ill in December 2019.”

He paid tribute to his mother, saying: “She was very young at heart, kind and a very dedicated hard working person.

“She will be missed by all.”

Usha’s funeral service will be held at Wyre Forest Crematorium in Kidderminster on Wednesday 25 March at 12.30.

Her family is asking attendees not to bring flowers but instead to donate to Cancer Research UK.
