Charvet Premier Ranges’ UK sales manager Colin Leonard has retired after 20 years with the company.
Leonard trained as a chef and spent 10 years with The Savoy and Claridge’s hotels before moving to the role of chef instructor at Bournemouth & Poole College and later, head of department at Southampton City College. His career in education included spells teaching overseas in New York and in India, training the trainers of south east Asia.
“Training was so thorough in those days,” said Colin. “Chefs who completed their college training would have had no trouble with the skills tests set by Monica or Marcus on MasterChef!”
He also became a judge at Hotelympia London and Hospitality Birmingham having successfully competed in various competitions culminating with winning the Grand Prix d’Honneur (best in show) before joining the senior management team where he was responsible for managing the Live Cookery Theatres.
Leonard commented: “I enjoyed working in education and training, but the most pleasurable job I’ve had without doubt was the 20 years with Charvet Premier Ranges, working alongside MD, Wayne Cuomo. Wayne is a true professional, an absolute gentleman and a great pleasure to work with.
“I wish Wayne and the Charvet UK team every success for the future.”
Cuomo himself added: “Colin was the first salesman for Charvet UK and his chef and college background paid dividends for us. He worked hard to expand our customer base in restaurants and in catering colleges and we are now a leading supplier of prime cooking equipment to restaurants and colleges throughout the UK.
“Colin’s expertise and good humour has contributed greatly to Charvet UK and he will be sorely missed. We wish him a long and happy retirement.”
