The Consolidated Charity of Burton has donated £900 to enable an over 60s lunch club to purchase more catering equipment.
The Riverside Lunch Club is held at Riverside Church on the second Friday of every month as has become so popular it could not cater for any more diners, but this should now change with the added funding.
The original idea came from Rachel Edwards, a chef and former cookery teacher who prepares the meals for around 45 people each month.
Consolidated Charity of Burton trustees Patricia Ackroyd and Ron Clarke joined diners at the latest meeting and handed over a cheque to the group. Ackroyd told local newspaper, The Burton Mail: “We believe the Riverside Lunch Club is doing a great job and we are proud and happy to support its activities.”
