Charities offered free equipment

Do you know any charity organisations that could use a free food waste disposal table to help with their catering?

If so, Meiko is urging the industry to get in touch as it has 12 to give away at no cost as a result of the catering equipment charity initiative it set up alongside Hobart earlier this year.

The company says it will donate the Disperator food waste disposal tables to any registered charities that could use such a unit. Tables have already been supplied to Age UK.

The manufacture of the tables has been funded by Hobart as part of the joint charity initiative, with Corsair heavily discounting the price of the table itself.

Keith Elkington Transport has agreed to uplift and deliver free throughout the country, while Meiko UK is donating the disposer units and installing within the customers’ premises.

Units are offered on a first come basis, but Meiko said the end-user would need the following:

– A 13amp switched spur for connection to the disposer electrics. The disposer rating is 10amps.

– A 54mm trapped waste for connection to the outlet pipe of the disposer, or have an existing 54mm trapped waste within approximately 1.0 metre of the disposer.

– A 15mm isolated mains cold water supply within approximately 1.0 metre of the disposer.

Anybody who knows a charity that would want a table can email Meiko here.
