The group behind chains such as Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito looks poised to make a substantial investment in kitchen kit after pledging a restaurant expansion programme in the second half of the year.
The Restaurant Group Plc said today that the forthcoming launch of more than 30 restaurants reflected its optimism in the UK market.
"In total we expect to open between 30 and 35 new restaurants this year, most of which will be in the second half and at least half of these will be Frankie and Benny’s,” the company stated in a trading update.
“Looking further forward the new site pipeline for 2014 and beyond is better than we have seen for a number of years.”
In its update, The Restaurant Group revealed sales have risen 11% in the first 19 weeks of its financial year.
The company’s plans to open new restaurants mark a more aggressive approach towards expansion. It has opened just three new sites in the last four months, for instance.
The Restaurant Group operates 400 restaurants in the UK. Other brands within the group include Garfunkel’s, Brunning & Price, Coast To Coast and Filling Station.
