CESA has leant its support to the Catering Insight Awards 2019, in association with the First Choice Group, for the fourth time.

The association is once again backing the Supplier of the Year, Training & Education accolade, one of 16 trophies which will be presented on Thursday 28 November during the gala ceremony at the grand Banking Hall in central London.

Chair of CESA John Whitehouse explained: “A key part of our association’s remit is to encourage personal development, training and education. It’s an area many of our members are passionate about. That’s why CESA has led the way by developing initiatives such as CFSP (Certified Food Service Professional) and the recently launched PFS (Principles of Food Service), which is aimed at newcomers to the industry.

“The skills shortage and staff retention are critical issues for the foodservice equipment industry – we can tackle both through training and education.”

Of the Catering Insight Awards initiative itself, he added: “It attracts the movers and shakers from across the breadth of the whole industry, creating a really good networking event.

“We use the awards to rekindle and develop business relationships. It’s also a great opportunity to focus on and celebrate our industry’s successes.

“From the point of view of CESA members, it gives them considerable profile – many are sponsors or are involved in competing for the awards. Sponsoring an award also gives CESA a high profile, and more specifically it helps us push the training and education message.”

Whitehouse concluded: “We need to progress the evolution of the value chain mentality, backed by skills and expertise. A big part of that is working together and the event is an opportunity to reinforce our relationships. In recognising our industry’s ‘best in class’ the Catering Insight Awards not only allows us to celebrate success, it also inspires and encourages other companies to match their achievements.”
