Last night’s CEDA Grand Prix Awards ceremony at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate saw CNG Foodservice Equipment triumph in the Design Project £50,000-£200,000 category.
The Gateshead-based distributor was recognised for its scheme at Bike & Boot in Scarborough.
Bike & Boot is a new brand of leisure hotel, established by two industry stalwarts Simon Rhatigan, formerly MD at Le Manoir, and Simon Kershaw who’d worked for Whitbread Hotels division as well as in the wine industry.
The brief for the kitchen, buffet and bar was to design a facility that would be easy to operate, clean and maintain providing modern, tasty dishes prepared by one chef and a support team possibly without catering experience.
CNG MD Clive Groom spoke to Rhatigan recently, who passed on comments from the new chef and sous chef saying how well the kitchen worked and that it was easy to operate, efficient and easy to look after.
The distributor beat three other shortlisted entries to the accolade: Sprint Group’s Coppa Club project, Court Catering Equipment’s work at Soho House Farmhouse in Chipping Norton and GS Group’s project at Birmingham Symphony Hall.
