Nottinghamshire equipment and sundries wholesaler Caterway has secured a £100,000 finance agreement that it will use to expand its overseas operation.
Last year the company set up a warehouse in Alicante, Spain to cater to the significant ex-pat community on the Costa Blanca and it will use the cash injection to strengthen this side of the business.
Caterway operates two UK wholesale warehouses in Nottingham and Leeds, which stock everything from heavy duty kitchen equipment to chip forks.
When the business started it predominantly supplied to fish and chip shops, but over the past few years it has branched into all types of fast food.
Rob Atkinson, managing director of Caterway, who has run the business with his father Ray since completing an MBO six years ago, says the Spanish operation is becoming an important part of the business.
“After many years of growth, we are delighted to be continuing the pattern and focusing our attention on the Spanish operation,” he said. “The new funding will allow us to invest in the Alicante warehouse and start to provide more services to the ex-pat community on the Costa Blanca.”
Caterway secured the finance agreement from Santander Corporate & Commercial. The loan has been backed by the Government’s Enterprise Finance Guarantee.
