Thornton Heath-based distributor Catersales has opened an onsite Coffee Lab in anticipation of the hospitality industry reopening.
The demonstration area and proving counter is available for new coffee shop entrepreneurs to try.
Catersales director Joe Hasan detailed: “This demonstrates our new bespoke coffee station concept. It provides all that the self-respecting barista needs to serve the best possible coffee at their fingertips.”
The 1.5-metre wide space incorporates a milk fridge, take away cup storage, knock-out drawer, water softener compartment, hand sink, jug rinse, drainer and a filtered water tap.
This innovative and compact unit can be configured in many ways and is available with numerous work top options.
Hasan added: “Making great coffee is an art, however that needs to be supported with knowledge of coffee and good practices relating to how the machinery is used.
“We have found that having this set-up really brings home to our new-to-the-hospitality-industry clients, the need for a greater understanding of the processes and the do’s and don’ts.
“It’s a bit obvious to say that a coffee shop will succeed or fail depending on the quality of their coffee, however few operators other than the multiples understand that consistency is more important than quality. Few actually understand this and even fewer know how to achieve it. We can demonstrate this in practice in our Coffee Lab.”
