CaterQuotes has revealed that it is working to incorporate a greater amount of light equipment into its electronic catalogue in future.
The Birmingham-based outfit’s software programme has become the de facto online tool for dealers to find products and generate quotes from the huge array of kit listed by manufacturer members.
There are currently 500,000 items listed on CaterQuotes, much of which is heavy duty equipment.
But managing director, Stuart Campbell, believes there is plenty of scope to supplement that with information from light equipment brands.
He says that while the challenge will be to get sufficient buy-in from both manufacturers and the sales channel, he believes many dealers are now doing enough business on the light equipment side that it needs to “look down that route”.
“We do have some light equipment inside the programme, what we have got to do right now is to improve on what is already there,” he said. “It is going to take us a while to penetrate that market but it is definitely our next target audience.”
CaterQuotes can at least take inspiration from its parent company AutoQuotes, which has featured light equipment in its US programme for many years.
“In the States they have the entire portfolio — there is probably about one and a half million products in the catalogue over there,” said Campbell.
