Peterborough-based Caterquip UK has designed, supplied and installed a new kitchen for Plymouth Argyle Football Club.

The club engaged the distributor in order to modernise its hospitality strategy and provide a modern food and drink proposition.

Plymouth Argyle had a very restricted budget, meaning brand new equipment was cost prohibitive. Discussions first began in November 2018, with Caterquip’s first site meeting to survey space and meet project managers taking place in February this year.

The club needed a kitchen which would provide primary cooking for match days as well as functions. It had a specific brief that would allow the catering team to provide bar and restaurant food, match day catering and banqueting.

The brief included a high demand dish wash area which would cope with the capacity of typical match day and banqueting services.

Caterquip submitted designs for a kitchen that would operate to the required service brief including a high capacity conveyor warewashing function, a salad and cold prep kitchen, hot beverage, raw food prep and walk in fridge and freezer storage.

Equipment included Rational combis, Falcon fryers, Garland grill and Williams refrigeration.

The club also required a sizable hot food transit ability and Caterquip fulfilled this by supplying Moffat banquet carts. It also supplied undercounter glass washers and bulk icemaking machines to ensure the club’s busy bars can meet the new service demands.

Caterquip MD Dominic Ricciardi commented: “It worked out to be our single biggest supply and install job, totalling around £90k. We agreed a budget and presented in excess of £120k in savings over buying brand new, by using all reconditioned equipment apart from the extraction.”

Installation took place in November, with kitchen operations beginning this month.
