Catering equipment distributors are on the crest of a wave, if the results of Catering Insight’s recent salary survey are anything to go by.

A total of 130 distributor staff anonymously participated in our industry research, with the results suggesting that wages and job contentment are on a rising trajectory.

Responses arrived from all ends of the country, with a good spread of replies from across northern and southern England, and all feedback fairly evenly dispersed from intermediate level roles up to MDs.

From the responses we garnered, the average salary of a dealer’s MD calculates as a healthy £80,111.

For an operations director the mean was £43,583, while a sales director can expect to earn an average of £46,795.

Stepping down a level, a sales/account manager’s median wage was £37,020 based purely on the replies to the survey.

On the projects side of the business, the average project manager’s wage was recorded as £33,000 and an equipment purchaser/specifier polled the lowest of the major categories, coming in at £28,800.
