First Choice Group was victorious in the Supplier of the Year - Training & Education category. L-r: Promedia Digital’s Andrew Seymour, First Choice’s Martin Dagnall, FEA chair Steve Hobbs, First Choice’s John Whitehouse, Neil Vincent and Julian Fisher.

The Catering Insight Supplier of the Year – Training & Education accolade, sponsored by FEA, recognised the manufacturer who has invested extensively in education programmes for the benefit of the industry over the past 12 months.

The overwhelming winner, with a massive 45% of the vote, was the First Choice Group.

Training runs right to the very heart of the First Choice Group business model. Throughout the various national lockdowns, the firm adapted its services to a virtual setup, particularly for candidates learning through the Managed Learning Programme (MLP) for new gas engineers.

Even when restrictions began to ease, the need for social distancing remained at the company’s state-of-the-art training facilities in Cannock, therefore the training team reduced group sizes. For elements that could be taught using video content, the team developed a complete library of their own resources.

Head of First Choice’s training division Martin Dagnall commented: “Training and education is a very big deal for us. We are very supportive of our industry and we like to give a lot back when we can.

“We are always looking to develop more training and support our customers in that way and we are building a great team now to be able to do that. I hope we can be back here again in years to come.”
