Catering Insight Awards 2021 winner: Supplier Sustainability

The Catering Insight Supplier of the Year – Sustainability Award, sponsored by Hotel, Restaurant & Catering, honours manufacturers that are championing environmental product development and energy efficient products.

Distributors voted in their droves to give the 2021 winner, Unox, a massive 48% of the vote.

The cooking equipment manufacturer was rewarded after launched EmiXion 2030, a new multi-million-pound plan to achieve net zero carbon emissions across the global business by 2030. The strategy includes a series of initiatives including the introduction of electric vehicles, biogas trucks and on-site renewable energy generation at its Italian headquarters.

In the UK, Unox expects to move into new, sustainable headquarters in early 2022, built to a carbon neutral specification including solar panels on the roof, electric car charge points, heat pump and other eco-friendly features including carbon neutral paint and floor coverings.

Unox UK MD Scott Duncan was on hand last night to pick up the trophy. He commented: “Sustainability is a global project that Unox is really behind. As the category said, it is a multi-million pound project, not only globally for us but also in the UK and you’ll see some further news in 2022 to give more on that.”
