BGL Rieber

This year, Rieber gave dealers a new sales opportunity with the launch of the Thermoport canteen food transportation unit, which is particularly suited to Covid-secure meal serving for isolated groups in schools, offices and factories. With a capacity of 15-50 meals, the trolleys can be customised with attractive adhesive panels and there is a foldable sneeze guard option. Available as a convection-heated front loader, the Thermoport canteen can serve hot lunches prepared in a main kitchen, or the regeneration version can regenerate prepared ready meals up to 140°C.

Metcalfe Catering Equipment

In the last 12 months, Metcalfe has introduced a new range of mixers to the UK market to further drive this category towards energy efficient products, as well as continuing investment in new product development during the Covid period, to ensure new product releases for 2022. The Blaenau Ffestiniog-based company has also invested in large stockholding of components, finished products and spare parts, as well as offering dealers ongoing education on its entire portfolio via both online and in person training, and increasing support for dealer buying groups.

Unox has revolutionised hot holding with its new Multi.Day Hot Vacuum pump, which can support kitchen scheduling by vacuum sealing hot food in minutes. The hot vacuum pump uses never-seen-before technology to vacuum seal hot food inside Unox trays at service temperature. It can work alongside the brand’s Evereo hot fridge to give food producers, caterers and retailers the opportunity to preserve hot food trays safely for up to 72 hours. It is also suitable for central production units to seal Unox Multi.Day trays, before transporting hot food to satellite kitchens.

Welbilt’s Merrychef brand used 2021 to upgrade its flagship eikon e2s high speed plug and play oven. With enhancements made to the catalytic system, the improved eikon e2s is designed to increase the absorption of grease and odours from food by 10% more; further upgrades see impact- and temperature-resistant accessories and cavity mounts, and a bracket-free impinger plate mounting system which should reduce energy conduction. Added to this, Merrychef introduced an improved door design which provides a firmer closure, ensuring no bounce back and reliability for this front of house countertop unit.

Water cooler specialist Zerica utilised its in-house expertise to develop i-Wall, a new generation IoT-enabled built-in hydration solution for refreshing filtered ambient, chilled and sparkling water. i-Wall uses smart technology for a fully customisable user experience with an immediate and intuitive touchscreen interface and two-way connectivity. There are also three access levels for ease of use, and drink options can be disabled and enabled. Auxilia, Zerica’s dedicated internet portal for remote modification from any device, can be used by technicians to run diagnostics on the unit and calibrate the machine.

The winner will be announced at the gala ceremony on Thursday 18 November at London’s 8 Northumberland Avenue. Buy tickets to the event HERE.
