The Catering Insight Awards Business Development award recognises manufacturers or suppliers which have significantly developed their marketing or sales channels, establishing and progressing strong relationships with dealers, as well as providing added support or market development initiatives.

Rebranding from CaterQuotes and with a new UK MD in the form of Rob Gibson, 2019 has been a big year for AutoQuotes. The design and quotation platform closed out its fiscal year with record growth from April 2018 through to March 2019. The firm also released mobile app AQ GO where users can search the AQ Catalogue, view and modify current projects quickly, and create and send quotes from any mobile device, as well as launching a Revit design solution and offering CAD and Revit content creation services for manufacturers.
Over the past year, Capital Cooling has changed its business model to support the trade by removing its e-commerce features and showcasing new trade prices that allow dealer partners to make larger margins. The refrigeration specialist has also joined buying group ENSE and the AutoQuotes quotation and design platform. Furthermore, the firm added Italian manufacturer Ilsa Refrigeration to its portfolio, as well as Gastronorm chillers and freezers to its own brand product range. One of the supplier’s latest offers was for free glass doors with its Galaxy integral multidecks to reduce energy consumption.
Jestic Foodservice Equipment
Prominent supplier Jestic has shaken things up this year. Being bought out by South African firm, Universal Industries International, provided a springboard for the company to itself take over the Malibu Corporation, which not only added brands such as Miraclean and Wittco to its portfolio, but also enabled the firm to start building a fully-equipped test kitchen and meeting facility for customers in the north of England at Malibu’s Manchester base. Plus the supplier has now brought Venix combi ovens and Frontline oil management equipment under its umbrella.
With sales growing by 25% year on year for the past decade, Precision Refrigeration has spent 2019 ploughing £250,000 into a factory investment programme for its Thetford, Norfolk base. The work means that the company is able to double the capacity and speed up the rate of production. This will help the business to create new jobs for the area, as well as benefitting customers with shorter lead times. The transformation includes reorganising the flow of materials within the factory, making the most out of the existing space, and storing components more closely to the lines.
RH Hall has implemented a structured Vision document throughout the entire business, with clear objectives to ensure customer satisfaction and business growth. Internal staff promotions have been put in place to further grow the business and bring fresh ideas, enabling the company to achieve its goals. The supplier worked closely with UK exclusive brand Crown Verity and its network of approved dealers to offer a variety of opportunities in the growing outdoor equipment market. Utilising BBQ Champion and brand ambassador Ben Bartlett, a number of Cook Live events for dealers have taken place throughout the country.
