The south of England is a busy market, right from the Cotswolds to East Anglia, and including the ever-competitive London market, and the Catering Insight Distributor of the Year – South of England Award, sponsored by Hobart, will honour a dealer that has excelled as a business or overcome challenges to design and install incredible commercial kitchens.
This year the shortlist is:
Court Catering Equipment
London’s Court Catering Equipment has had a big year, being bought out by the national Unitech Industries group, a move expected to see the business growing further. Popular with manufacturers, it was named as both the Charvet and Meiko dealer of the year for its loyal brand support, increasing sales and consistently high levels of customer care. Its latest published accounts showed another year of increasing profits in the face of market pressures, while recent projects include Thomas’s School in Battersea, London.
Ideal Catering Solutions
Norwich-based distributor Ideal has had a very successful 2018, working with a large building company to deliver a whole new food court solution for the Intu Nottingham shopping mall. This involved supply and fitting seven kitchens from the extraction system, fabrication and installation, all within four weeks, in time and on budget. Always going the extra mile for its clients, the distributor’s team has worked overnight and at weekends to meet customer deadlines. Furthermore it has recently invested in its IT equipment and a new website.
KCCJ is in the closing stages of completing its biggest ever project, that of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club’s new stadium in north London. Even more cause for celebration was the company’s 20th anniversary this year, plus its recent lcumus SafeContractor accreditation for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace. Other schemes for the Kent-based kitchen design house this year included Sopwell House in St Albans, Richmond Education and Enterprise Campus, the Salt Hill Activity Centre in Slough and the Ty Iscoed Nursing Home in Newbridge, Wales.
Sprint is on the expansion trail, with the Worcestershire-based firm quickly growing over the past few years, resulting in its latest published turnover of £16.2m. The staff roster is being bolstered to support this, with two of the latest joiners being Matthew Francis and Simon Dann as sales managers. One recent major project was for legendary London member’s club Annabel’s, for which the team had to externally hoist equipment up to the third floor of the building to be fitted within the four bespoke commercial kitchens Sprint outfitted there.
Target Catering Equipment
Gloucester-based Target has recently completed projects for prestigious customers including the Royal Navy, RIBA and Pegasus Life. It has helped to deliver Carbon Trust funding to its clients as an accredited Carbon Trust supplier. It has also assisted customers to overcome difficult ventilation and equipment issues that have caused contractual problems and require compliance with strict planning and DEFRA guidelines. Investing in CAD software and hardware to deliver complete 3D designs, its design and consultancy services are now being engaged by international companies – specifically China.
