Catering equipment professionals who wish to take advantage of higher education programmes developed for the industry need to register their interest before the end of the month to stand any chance of being accepted on 2013-14 courses.
Under the ‘Tri-Education’ initiative formed by CEDA, CESA and the FCSI, professionals can now study for several qualifications, including an MSc degree in International Hospitality Design and Management Consultancy.
The newest addition to the training portfolio is a CPD in Foodservice Kitchen and Equipment Design developed by FCSI, CEDA and the University of West London.
However, applications for the CPD and MSc qualification need to be received before the end of June for courses starting in September 2013 and January 2014.
As well as those two courses, the Tri Education pact incorporates CESA’s CFSP programme, which runs throughout the year.
Vita Whitaker, CEDA’s deputy chair, said that personal development, training and further education are the main priorities for the Tri Education group.
“The catering equipment industry agrees that the most effective way to increase professional reputation and professional capability to deliver first-class design, planning, installation and customer service is through established and respected professional qualifications across each spectrum of the business,” she said. “The qualifications have to have value for senior management through to administrators, designers, sales personnel and technicians.”
Whitaker said that in order to support the skills of individuals and businesses in the industry, CEDA and the other trade bodies remain committed to providing help with funding advice, mentoring and encouragement.
David Bentley, who this week handed over the chairmanship of the FCSI to Niccola Boyd-Stevenson, added: “The FCSI has always believed that continued professional development is the backbone of any individual’s career progression, that is why we initially developed the MSc programme alongside Sheffield Hallam University; joining then with CEDA and CESA to form the Tri Education platform seemed the natural next.
