Catering equipment part of online start-up's plans

Online ordering for takeaways has become very much the norm with operators signing up to schemes like ‘Just-Eat’.

Now Joas Serugga is bringing the concept to the catering equipment market having launched ‘QuickBuffet’ to offer catering customers a single platform to search find and order catering services for their events.

Serugga explains: “The catering sector seems to be a little laid back in terms of technology in some ways and I thought we needed a ‘Just-Eat’-style service .

“We’re aimed at quality caterers and catering equipment hire companies nationwide and also bakers, juice bars, butchers and anyone who can supply catering services in the UK.

“One of our major target service is that of catering equipment hire.

“Sometimes, customers are not aware that this is a service they can make huge savings on and make a difference to their event.

“What we’re doing is to present the service together with buffet catering that complement each other all the time, yet some times completely separate in marketing and accessibility to customers.

“We’re talking about mobile equipment, like microwaves, coffee machines, cooking equipment, warmers, water boilers, all the way to furniture, crockery, cutlery and décor."

Serugga tells Catering Insight he has recently reached out to Quick Buffet’s first group of early adopters which, he says, seems very much interested in the service as it not only brings them a whole new revenue stream, but also offers simplicity and flexibility in management unlike what they normally have with any other web platform.

Changing prices, special offers and money off coupons are part of the many benefits that come with the platform.

Serugga is bullish about the next 12 months, saying: “We are in for a busy 12 months coming up. Firstly we’re working hard to constantly keep getting the message out.

“Alongside this, we will be rolling out our app that’s currently under development, continuing out trend to lead the way this area of catering service provision in two to three months time.

That means reaching out to many more customers for our caterers, and also an extra layer of simplicity too for our caterers in terms of managing their business.

“We also plan our official launch early in 2015 where we plan to get our caterers to appreciate the benefits of our new system.

“We continue to automate all areas of our service so catering service suppliers have the freedom to manage their business as and when they need with as much simplicity as is possible.”
