Catering Appliance Superstore expands its reach with field consultancy

Oliver Cannon is now CAS’s national catering equipment consultant.

Catering Appliance Superstore (CAS) has reportedly seen exponential growth since the launch of its e-commerce website back in 2010. Now employing over 30 staff from Kendal-based headquarters and boasting annual sales of ~£20m, it is now beginning to reach out into the field.

The directors of CAS agreed that although the largest area of growth for the company is always likely to be online, there is still a huge amount of business out there that has not made the transition to purchasing online, and prefer the traditional face-to-face business relationship.

They stated: “We’ve been considering having people in the field representing the CAS brand for a few years now, but we wanted to make sure we had the right calibre of representative before we were prepared to take this step.

“First impressions are so important, and we want to be sure that our brand and offering will be presented professionally and accurately to new and existing customers.”

Therefore, the distributor has hired Oliver Cannon as national catering equipment consultant. CAS has already been aware of Cannon for over 5 years, he has been the firm’s sales representative for both Robot Coupe and Rational during that time.

CAS reported that Cannon has impressed the firm with his knowledge, presentation skills and professional approach, and when the company learned that he was looking for a change in his career it wanted to ensure it made a move.

He will be the dealer’s ‘boots on the ground’, visiting existing customers as well as seeking out new ones, with the aim of understanding their business needs and advising on the best equipment to meet these.

Cannon said: “Following my receiving of the Rational regional sales manager of the year award 2017, I felt I was ready to get my teeth into a new opportunity or challenge.

“Having been lucky enough to have worked for two market leading manufacturers the next logical step was to move to the distributor side of the industry. I’m very excited to be spearheading this new avenue of sales for Catering Appliance Superstore all over the UK, utilising my combined 14 years of industry experience and expertise.”

Site visits from Cannon were available from 1 March onwards.
