Peterborough-based dealer Caterfix has transformed the catering facilities at local All Souls Parish Church.

Church staff had been solely relying on a basic, domestic style kitchen to provide the cooking for the community groups they have hosted since opening the Parish Centre in 1996. However, it became apparent that this wasn’t sufficient to cope with the demands of the ever-growing catering requirements. Therefore, by working with Caterfix the decision was made to upgrade to a commercial style kitchen.

The dealer’s in-house CAD designers worked with the church and listened to demands to ensure they met the required standards. The focal point of this project was to turn the domestic-style kitchen into a simple, yet versatile commercial kitchen design that would adapt to all eventualities.

Caterfix therefore fitted a microwave, stainless-steel fabrication and a Hobart undercounter dishwasher, as well as a granite countertop, new kitchen lights, wall cladding and Altro flooring. The dealer ensured it fit all equipment smoothly within 2 weeks.

When church staff were asked why they decided now was the right time make changes, Pat, one of the Parish volunteers, explained that they haven’t had a redesign in 20 years and it needed a “freshen up”.

The dealer received feedback from the church about the kitchen: “I love cooking in it,” said Pat. “The stainless-steel fabrication creates a smooth finish for the kitchen, leaving more room and giving it a professional commercial kitchen look. The kitchen staff were very excited about cooking in it.”

Regarding the Hobart dishwasher, a member of the church’s wash up team has Parkinson’s disease and she expressed how helpful the dishwasher’s easy accessibility is for her. Considering the church feeds up to 50-100 people the dishwasher has reportedly proven itself a significant factor in the kitchen’s everyday operation.

Church members also said they were pleased with the large amounts of storage space, and that the marble worktop is a good addition to the commercial style kitchen. In addition to this, they believe the stainless steel fabrication provides easy access by having smooth sliding doors and drawers, and a wider counter area for food preparation.
