Peterborough-based distributor CaterFix has completed another project for the Peterborough Care Group.
Following an installation at The Maltings Care Home also located in Peterborough in 2014, the family-run care home business tasked CaterFix with providing catering facilities for the new Thorpe Wood Care Home, located next to Thorpe Wood Golf Course.
The distributor had to ensure the new kitchen could help to produce the varied menus and diets required at the new 50 bed care home, which provides residential and dementia care for the elderly.
CaterFix’s team of in-house CAD designers worked with Peterborough Care to ensure the new kitchen would meet all their needs. Via 3D visuals, detailed M&E and kitchen plan drawings, the dealer ensured the care home had all the technical details required to pursue its project quickly.
The kitchen is fitted with full stainless-steel fabrication for all work tops and storage. For cooking the site has two Rational combi ovens – one 10 grid and one six grid, double fryers, two Lincat induction hobs and a Silverlink fryer, a Samsung microwave and a Lincat Panther hot cupboard plus the brand’s SureFlow hot water boiler.
Kitchen refrigeration comes in the form of Foster undercounter fridges, and multiple Foster slimline upright fridges and freezers within a storage room. While warewashing is managed by a Hobart AUP‐10A hood dishwasher.
A CaterFix spokesperson stated: “We couldn’t have done this kitchen without the right commercial equipment from our well-known UK suppliers.”
Ajay Marjara, a director at Peterborough Care, commented: “Once planning permission had been granted to build Thorpe Wood Care Home involving CaterFix to commission the kitchen was a no brainer.
“We have had CaterFix equipment previously in our other homes and we wanted to extend this efficiency to Thorpe Wood Care Home as this was a proven combination of equipment and layout.
“From planning to installation, it was all trouble free. Quality of service is our main priority and that is why we always choose CaterFix.”
