A building in Leicestershire that a catering equipment firm had to move out of after it was burgled twice in the space of a week is to be knocked down and replaced with a storage block.
Park House in Albert Village, a small local industrial hub, was once the home of MGB Catering Equipment, a provider of commercial catering equipment and kitchen design services.
However, the company was forced to find new premises after its HQ was damaged following two separate break-ins and is now based a mile up the road in Swadlincote.
According to Burton Mail, MGB had items worth more than £20,000 stolen from the premises when the burglaries occurred in 2010. The intruders also left taps running, which completely ruined the building.
The paper said that both burglaries took place in one week and a number of items were stolen, including mixing bowls, a table-top oven, microwaves, electric sockets, an electric welder, digital camera, grinder and a cordless drill.
In the wake of MGB’s departure, the premises had been boarded up by the landlords. However, the site has now been taken over by food product manufacturer Naturex, which plans to bulldoze it to make way for a storage facility that will hold pallets of dry food raw materials.
