British catering equipment plant to open in August

A new catering equipment plant in the north west of England is set to whir into action in August this year.

The factory is part of an investment being made by Glen Dimplex Professional Appliances (GDPA) to expand its manufacturing capabilities at its main base in Merseyside.

GDPA, which is best known for the Burco and LEC brands, says the 12,000 square foot unit will be dedicated solely to the production of catering equipment.

The firm said the move would “significantly increase” its capacity to manufacture British-built catering equipment and give it increased flexibility on bespoke orders.

Build times should also be reduced as a result of the modern machinery installed in the factory.

Jon Usher, head of UK sales and marketing for GDPA, said: “The investment we are making in the new factory is fundamental to our ongoing strategy of manufacturing more of our catering equipment in the UK.

“There will be a host of benefits for our customers, such as an ability to respond quickly to urgent production requirements, a reduction in the time it takes to deliver product innovation and a more flexible approach in the lines we can produce to offer more bespoke options where requested, such as our personalised manual fill water boilers launched recently.”

GDPA currently markets a wide range of professional kitchen equipment, including 4 and 6 burner range cookers, ovens, microwaves, toasters, water boilers and refrigeration.

The new factory will also house a product showroom, demonstration kitchen and product testing area for hands-on interaction with the equipment.
