Supplier, Sous Vide Tools, has acquired the Shop-Equip brand name and website domain of the defunct online dealer, which collapsed into administration towards the end of last year citing the current economic climate as the cause.
A notice now posted on the distributor’s website said: “In December 2018 the Shop-Equip brand was acquired. We are proud to continue the Shop-Equip name in this industry. We are currently working on a revamped website and product range and look forward to launching this in January 2019.”
Sous Vide Tools’ MD Alex Shannon confirmed that the new business and website will be operational before the end of January.
“The new Shop-Equip will be very different from its predecessor,” he said. “It will be a shop window for a number of exclusive brands and we intend to create a point of difference by offering a range of niche, high quality products that are not generally available elsewhere in the market.
“This will include the full range of Sage/Breville products for example. What we won’t be doing is selling ‘me too’ products from some of the larger suppliers whose products are not only widely available elsewhere but also offer the dealer network wafer thin margins that are slowly killing the industry.”
Shannon emphasised: “At Sous Vide Tools we have gained an enviable reputation for being passionate about food, promoting new cooking techniques and bringing to market a whole host of genuinely innovative niche products.
“In the search for those products we uncovered numerous pieces of equipment that we would have loved to take on board but chose not to because they didn’t quite fit under the Sous Vide Tools umbrella. However, these products are perfect for Shop-Equip, a well-respected business with the right audience. And, of course, there is no need for us to start a new business from scratch.
“The Shop-Equip brand is incredibly well known across the industry and will give us the opportunity to introduce even more new products, open up new marketing channels and engage with new customers. I am also happy to confirm that dealers will be able to order online at substantially discounted prices once we have provided them with their own unique login details.”
