Dunstable-based distributor Advance Group has reshuffled its senior management after emerging from the pandemic in a more advantageous position than first forecast.
Operations director Ryan Yeates has now been promoted into a group MD role, while Steve Coates has once more relinquished the day to day running of the business, stepping back into his previous chairman post.
Coates detailed: “Following on from a better than expected recovery from the global pandemic, now seems like a great time to be able to sit back and assess what is the right journey for the business to take over the next few years.
“I personally was semi-retired up until March 2020 and when I heard the news of the global pandemic I saw no other option but to come back to working in the business 5 days a week. The whole business has worked tirelessly to ensure the survival and now growth of Advance and we are extremely thankful that we are now seeing great opportunities and exciting prospects coming our way.”
He continued: “Now that the business is stabilised and indeed looking to grow, it is the right time for me personally to move back into a chairman’s role, focusing on shaping the future direction of the business.
“As such with immediate effect I am pleased we have appointed Ryan Yeates as the group MD for the business. Ryan and I have agreed that we will continue to work on the development of the Advance Triangle, encompassing customer experience, team engagement and financial wellbeing as our key focuses.”
Coates concluded: “I want to be clear that none of this would be possible if the business hadn’t been as agile and as responsive as it had during the pandemic and I would like to publicly thank the exec and the wider team for their efforts over the last 18 months.”
While Yeates said: “Firstly I would like to thank Steve for the opportunity to lead Advance through its next stage of the business’ journey. Steve has clearly navigated some of the toughest trading conditions over the company’s history and I am thankful for the opportunity to work closely with him, even under difficult trading conditions.
“I am really looking forward to helping shape a sustainable future for the business, our customers and our suppliers.”
He summed up: “Along with Steve I have seen first-hand how the team within Advance has collaborated over this difficult time and worked hard to deliver customer centric and commercial beneficial solutions.
“Clearly we are still trading in difficult times but I am really looking forward to the challenge and becoming further ingrained in this fantastic industry.”
