BREAKING NEWS: Nayati’s global HQ clarifies UK position

Nayati’s Indonesian headquarters plans to expand a UK dealer network.

Following last month’s news that Nayati Cooking Ltd, the UK agent for Indonesian cooking equipment manufacturer PT Nayati Indonesia, would be wound down, the company’s headquarters is seeking to clarify its position regarding the UK market.

Aldo Susanto, business development director of PT Nayati Indonesia, told Catering Insight: “Nayati is a registered trademark of PT Nayati Indonesia. Despite bearing the name Nayati, the Nayati Cooking Ltd entity is not and was never a branch of PT Nayati Indonesia.

“The company incorporated by Mark Campey, Nayati Cooking Ltd, is an independent entity of PT Nayati Indonesia which, through the courtesy of PT Nayati Indonesia, was allowed to sell products exclusively in the UK territory without constituting any agency and distributorship relationship with PT Nayati Indonesia under any express or implied agreement.

“The entitlement to use the name Nayati as Mark Campey’s company name was never given to him.”

However, Campey disputes Susanto’s position, commenting: “This is not an accurate description of the situation.

“Had service levels not faltered, we wouldn’t have exited the joint venture. Nayati didn’t understand the UK market or how to support it.”

Nevertheless, Sustanto promised that PT Nayati intends to push forward with national coverage, saying: “It is indeed PT Nayati’s strategy to remain active and even increase the UK market activities as we can see growth potential, especially with our oriental cooking equipment.

“The target is to set up a dealer network throughout the UK within the next [few] months. The process has started already and we got very positive feedback from the market.”

Meanwhile, Certa Cooking Equipment has sought to reassure any dealers and sites which already have Nayati cooking equipment installed.

Certa director, Dan Loria said: “Certa Cooking Equipment will be acting as the helpdesk for all technical, service, repair, spare parts and maintenance issues relating to Nayati equipment in the UK.

“We understand that there will be many concerned users out there following Nayati Cooking Ltd’s announcement and we would like to put their minds at rest by letting them know that specialist help is at hand.

“Our team of engineers covers the whole of the UK and has been fully trained and certified to work on all products in the Nayati range. We are fully geared up to support users of the equipment and should they require a service call out, technical advice, or wish to discuss an ongoing maintenance contract, then they should simply call us and we will be delighted to help.”

  1. I hope the ‘misunderstandings’ are sorted out quickly for the benefit of those that invested in the equipment.
Well done to Dan Loria and the Certa team for support.
Users and distributors should choose their suppliers and equipment wisely.

  2. Taking into account the situation, it seems to me that Mark and his team are being as honourable as they could be. Securing loose ends and making sure no client is left high and dry with access to parts and maintenance etc.. Considering the abysmal record of many other company closures in our industry sector, with the little knowledge I have on their individual circumstances I feel Mark and his team should be commended for their actions. Many companies would have pushed their actions to a point where everyone looses but the instigator (We all know many of them). I hope they can make their new ideas work.
    Happy to Help
