Dawson MMP will close before the end of the year, with the catering equipment brands it distributes to be sold through other channels of the Ali Group instead, it can be revealed.
Catering Insight understands that staff at the Barnsley-based outfit were informed of huge changes at the firm on Thursday, with parent Ali Group confirming the restructuring in a statement a short while ago.
The company said it had begun a programme to “reposition” the UK distribution of the Comenda, Lainox, Mareno, Rosinox and Rendisk brands that Dawson was managing.
Ali Group said it has decided to refocus distribution of the five equipment brands through alternative UK market channels and will commence an “orderly closure” of Dawson MMP over the next six to seven months.
The Dawson business facilities will continue to trade as normal during this repositioning exercise and the Dawson leadership team remains headed by Nick Falco, managing director, and Michelle Frost, financial and operations director.
The Comenda warewash equipment brand will now be exclusively distributed in the UK by HTG Trading Ltd, based in Ipswich under its business division Hubbard Systems.
Hubbard also distributes the Ali Group ice machine brand Scotsman in the UK.
Lainox combination oven products will be distributed in the UK by Falcon Foodservice Equipment, its sister company in Stirling, Scotland.
“Both Hubbard and Falcon have strong existing sales and distribution channels backed by national after-sales service that offer an ongoing assurance and commitment to the end user,” it said.
Rosinox, Mareno and Rendisk will continue to support the UK market from factory direct sales and business development activity.
All Dawson engineers, meanwhile, will transfer to the Ali Group business Serviceline.
Ali Group said it “fully recognises” its service commitment to the UK market and will uphold all ongoing warranty and after-sales service and maintenance obligations currently provided by Dawson.
The new distribution partners will coordinate customer service for both existing as well as new product warranty, service and maintenance requirements, it said.
