Brakes Catering Equipment is all set to scale up its business with a site reorganisation, staff restructure and recruitment programme that should enable it to provide even greater support to its customers.

The distributor has reorganised its Leeds operation, which has doubled the warehouse capacity.

The company believes the move has also ensured that the latest catalogue, launched last month, is able to feature a much larger range, with improved availability for next day deliveries.

Brakes reports early customer feedback on the recent changes has been extremely encouraging, prompting increased satisfaction levels and an immediate uplift in top line sales.

To cope with the sales surge, the business has been strengthening its team, recruiting for the planned growth.

Kevin Finlay has taken up the post of channel head, having 25 years’ experience in both SME and large FMCG organisations.

Joining from Enterprise Foods, where he led the sales function of a local sourcing food management organisation, Finlay has also gained a raft of sales experience at Allied Bakeries and the Ilchester Cheese Company.

“I am managing the end to end offer as we go through the process of scaling up the business,” he explained.

“It is an exciting time to be working for the company: we are strengthening the commercial support that we offer our customers, growing the product range and adding further value to our proposition.”
